  • Amir Nagh

    Amir is originally from Iran and has been living in New Zealand for several years. He holds degrees in finance, economics, and political science from Massey University and Victoria University of Wellington, where his research focused on New Zealand–China relations. A proud nerd when it comes to public infrastructure, he’s passionate about making systems work better for everyone. He speaks English and Farsi, and in his spare time enjoys rowing, travelling, and diving into new ideas around learning, technology, and culture.

  • Tamarin Hart

    Tamarin is originally from South Africa and now lives in Auckland. With a background in publishing and digital marketing, she has experience working across a range of international clients and marketing disciplines. Tamarin was part of the Empower team, where she contributed her skills and passion for supporting young people. Known for her attention to detail and teamwork, she approaches challenges with positivity and a sense of humour.

  • Swan-Lynn Lee

    Swan-Lynn Lee was a valued member of Empower, bringing her passion for mentoring and helping others achieve their dreams. With a strong background in business management and experience in freight forwarding, she approached challenges with a practical mindset and lots of energy. Swan-Lynn enjoyed problem-solving and planning pathways for young people, always ready to offer guidance and support. She joined Empower eager to learn from diverse cultures and to grow alongside the community, appreciating the chance to give back and be part of something meaningful. Outside of her work with Empower, Swan-Lynn’s interests include tennis, reading, and self-development.

  • Sarah Adams

    Sarah Adams is a talented photographer and videographer with a strong background in digital content and social media. She has worked with a range of brands, creating engaging visuals and managing digital campaigns. Sarah also has experience teaching filmmaking and has volunteered extensively, including supporting education and fundraising projects. Her creative skills and passion for storytelling made her a valuable member of the Empower community.

  • Devanga Nethmini Wanigasinghe

    Devanga is a first-generation Sri Lankan New Zealander living in Lower Hutt. She has a strong passion for equity, diversity, and inclusion, and loves working on projects that put people first. Devanga has experience in community engagement and service design across the public and state sectors, always aiming to create public services that truly care for everyone. As a former member Devanga enjoyed supporting and empowering young people to reach their full potential.

  • Nosia Fogogo

    Nosia came to New Zealand from Burundi in 2005 with just a suitcase and little English, but a lot of determination and hope. She went on to study law at the University of Auckland and is passionate about helping young people, especially those facing challenges similar to her own. Nosia believes that sharing her journey and experiences can make a real difference, offering guidance and encouragement to others finding their way. She’s warm, caring, and always ready to support others as they build their confidence and chase their dreams. goes here

  • Stephanie Xie

    Stephanie Xie is a dedicated student and mentor with a passion for supporting young people. Originally from Guangzhou, China, she moved to New Zealand to pursue her education. Now in her final year of studying for a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Education at the University of Auckland, Stephanie has embraced the challenges of living independently and is passionate about supporting young people in their educational journeys.

  • Charlotte Hawkins

    Charlotte is a University of Auckland graduate with a Master of Heritage Conservation and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Museums and Cultural Heritage. She brings a passion for learning and connecting with people from diverse backgrounds. With her strong heritage conservation background and museum experience, she has supported many young people through educational programs and mentoring. Her roles as an international buddy and visitor host reflect her dedication to creating inclusive and inspiring environments. Outside of work, Charlotte enjoys vintage fashion and spending time outdoors with her dog. She’s committed to helping others follow their dreams and make a positive impact.

  • Ayesha Nurain Janah

    Born in the Maldives and raised in New Zealand, she has a strong background in corporate governance, finance, and strategy. Nurain has held senior roles in both the public and private sectors. She is the Founder of Authenticity Aotearoa, a charity empowering women of colour to express their authentic selves and create inclusive workplaces. Nurain has been recognised as a finalist in the New Zealand Women of Influence Awards and named a University of Auckland 40 Under 40 Business Leader. Her work continues to inspire change and promote equity across various sectors.

  • Bhavini Parbhoo

    Bhavini Parbhoo has been an inspiring part of Empower, driven by her passion for supporting young people to grow and thrive. With two years as a secondary school teacher and a decade leading youth initiatives, she brings real hands-on experience working with diverse communities, including at a college with students from over 50 cultures. Bhavini understands firsthand the challenges faced by youth adapting to new environments, having moved to New Zealand from a developing country as a teenager. She’s motivated to guide others through similar journeys, helping them overcome obstacles and reach beyond their potential. Outside mentoring, Bhavini loves reading, swimming, hiking, travel, and contributing to community projects.

  • Simon Tate

    Simon is a passionate Communication Studies graduate known for his natural talent in storytelling and creative problem-solving. With experience in video production, marketing, and customer service, he has contributed to projects for notable organizations and brands. His leadership skills are reflected in founding a university drama club and coordinating theatre programs, all supported by strong academic achievements in communication and public speaking.
